We wanted to experience something Robin Hood-y, if you get what I mean. We showed up to our hostel which happened to be on one of the dirtiest streets in the city. The hostel was right next to a bar which reeked of cigarette smoke. They only accepted cash--no credit cards. So we were off for about an hour trying to find an ATM. As soon as we were in our room we immediately locked the door. This sounds like an exaggeration, but really, all of this happened.
We also learned that Sherwood Forest is the place to be for all things Robin Hood. We also copped a look of the hostel in Sherwood and it is infinitely better--just in case you ever venture out that way.
Sherwood Forest is a cool place, it reminded me a lot of my grandpa's ranch in Oregon.
One of my favorite parts of Sherwood Forest was this tree. There was a huge sign detailing Robin Hood and whether he really existed. Pretty much, there's no conclusive proof that Robin Hood was real. And then by this tree there was a sign that read, "Robin Hood and his Merry Men may have met at this tree and used it as a hiding place." Riiiiight.
Cambridge is pretty cool. We visited their library which has the original manuscript of Winnie the Pooh and many other old books of Shakespeare, the Bible, etc. It was an impressive collection, but not as impressive as BYU's. Has anyone seen BYU's special collections? Theirs is massive . . . I'm just asserting some plain old Cougar pride.
I think when we took this picture class was in session. I bet the students see this all of the time and think we're all complete idiots.
I know you can see all of the bug guts on the windshield of our rental car as I took this picture from inside. But I had to get a shot of all of the cars trying to get through this toll lane. No wonder their public transportation is so good. You mean I have to wait in line for hours AND pay to get through? Unfair.
